I have a newspaper clipping, 1827 referring to The Tuckies Academy run by Mr and Mr C F CHILDE.  Would anyone know where I could find out more about this school and the brothers CHILDE.  William CHILDE was married to Mary Anne BALL, daughter of Benjamin BALL.

Hello

In case you haven't found it yet there is a place called The Tuckies on the west side of the River Severn and ESE of Jackfield.  I don't know how this fits in with your newspaper cutting, if at all.

This link will bring it up in a modern map on the Bing web site.  You can zoom out to see it in context.

You can also see the location as it was in the 1880's on the National Library of Scotland web using this link.  Again zoom out to see the area around.

If you go to the Broseley Local History Society web site and just put 'tuckies' (without the quotes) in the search box several references will come up.

Don't forget a search using your favourite search engine.

Thank you Mike, I also have paper clippings saying that Benjamin Ball (he was an ironfounder) lived at The  Tuckies about this same time.  I did know it was near  Jackfield.  I am still chasing the Childe/Hughes family story and have no  information of years between 1815 and 1827.
