Hello

Can anyone help me with information about a family by the name of Garbett who were living in Shifnal in 1885. I have no information about their address or family members.

Thank you.

Hello

By 1891 there were 62 people with the GARBETT surname living in the Shifnal area so you will need to give some forenames and if possible at least the year of birth. The best way is to tell us the husband, wife and then as many of the children that you know.

Hello Mike

Thanks for your quick response. I don't have much to go on other than the birth in 1885 of a Hubert Garbett.

Does that help to narrow it down?

Hello

Looking at the 1891 census (RG.12/2096 folio 88 pages 3 and 4) it would appear that your family were living at Apley Farm Cottage(s) in the parish of St Chad, Stockton, Shropshire. His parents were John and Martha A GARBETT and he had two older brothers and an older sister plus a younger brother and sister.

You need to view the original census page, either online or at your local library / record office.

This area is between Bridgnorth and (the modern) Telford and on the east side of the River Severn.

Thanks Mike - I'll take a look - and I appreciate your help.

Any other info from anyone, old photos etc, would be great.
