I have been given some information today about a brickwall family member.

George MURRAY born 1873 in Ellesmere, son of James MURRAY and Ann STOCKTON

My source thinks he may have met this person in 1939 in Overton where he looked after a special system of pumping water from the river Dee to the village. This system was controlled by a hydraulic ram pump.

Would there be any records anywhere that would have information about this man? Was he well known in the community? Did he hold the job till death/retirement?

I would like to match him up with the 1873 George MURRAY that I have lost track of who I believed was last seen on the 1901 census in Gloucestershire. If the two men are the same person then there was a wife called JANE (nee GARDNER) and two sons both born in the Forest of Dean area -  ALBERT W. bc.1898 and REDVERS CYRIL THOMAS born 1900. I have not found any of the family are to be found together or separately in 1911 census. I have also not found a marriage the parents in any county.

Can anybody help please? I am based in Scotland and my source in Norfolk.

Many thanks.
