Hi all

I've been researching my surname GOURLAY for quite some time.

I've recently become aware of a branch of the family who lived in Whitchurch, North Salop and Shrewsbury

If anyone knows any Gourlay's who are interested in Family History I'd love to hear from them

Here's hoping

Stuart

Hello Stuart

Presumably you have discovered that you need to be fairly flexible with the spelling of your surname you use in searches online.  GOURLAY and GOURLEY are the most obvious but the further back in time you go the more variations you are likely to find.

Ancestry and Find my Past both have some entries for your name which you should look at if you haven't done so already.

If you look at the 'Online Databases' in the blue bar on this web site there are at least two references to your surname. The monumental inscription at Calverhall is fairly modern - James died 1974 and Elsie Mary died 1978.

The BT online telephone directory has at least one entry for your surname.
