I am trying to piece together the life of John OLIVER of Llanyblodwel. I think he may have been married 3 times:

I think he married Mary in about 1769, and had 6 children between 1770 and 1780 - at least 3 of whom died in infancy. The surviving children being John (1771), Elizabeth (1777) and Arthur (1780).

I can't locate the death of his first wife, Mary, but he married Mary RICHARDS in 1781. They had 4 children: Jane (1783), Elinor (1785), Robert (1787) and Catherine (1789). Mary probably died in childbirth in 1789, as she was buried before the baptism of the youngest child.

It is possible that Margaret EDWARDS was then housekeeper for John and his family, as John and Margaret had a daughter, Mary in 1795. John and Margaret then married in 1797, and had 7 further children - those who survived infancy being Mary (1801) (although I have not located a death of Mary born in 1795), Sarah (1804), Edward (1808), Ann (1811) and Thomas (1814).

John Oliver had died before the 1841 census, but I don't know when he was born. His third wife, Margaret, died in 1862, aged 88. She was born in 1774.

With so many children, I feel sure that someone must be tracing this family too! But it may be that there is more than one John Oliver, and I am assuming too much!

The only children which I know any more about are Edward OLIVER, who married Margaret WILLIAMS in about 1832; and Ann OLIVER, who married Thomas HUGHES in about 1830 - they are my g.g.g. grandparents.
