Large scale Ordnance Survey maps (1:2,500 or 25 inches to 1 mile) of Shropshire which were published from about 1880 to about 1930, but not all dates for all areas, are now available to view on the National Library of Scotland web site in addition to the 1:10,560 or 6 inches to 1 mile maps which have been available for some time.

The large scale maps of England are gradually being made available working from the south to the north.  This link will take you to the index page from where you can zoom in to any of the available maps.  To give an idea of the detail on these maps my family home is shown with a porch over the front door on these early maps but it had been removed by the time I was a child and I never previously knew of its existence.  My parents had a porch erected in the same position and the next owner removed that which is how it remains to the present.

To look at the 6 inch maps the side by side (old and modern) view is quite a good place to start.
