I am trying to trace the baptisms of John Poyner and Hannah Matthews who were married at Claverley in 1800. I was wondering if anyone out there might have some information Hannah died in the 1820s and is buried at Claverley and John ended his days in Bridgnorth worhhouse c1852. Any help would be enormously appreciated.

Hi Nicholas, In the 1851 cens' it states that John Poyner was born in Brewood, Staffordshire, even with that info & given age of 80 I can't find a suitable baptism for him anywhere near there.
Also I can't find a baptism for Hannah Matthews.

Hi Nicholas, On Hannah Matthews marriage record a Martha Matthews was a witness & often witnesses are sibling to the marriage partners.
Again no birth/baptism was found for Martha in the area, but I believe the one below has a good chance of being Hannah's sibling.

Once again thank you John for your research on my behalf. I think Hannah and Martha may well have been sisters but I cannot find any baptisms for them with the same parents anywhere.. going back to John he is shown as 60 in 1841 and 80 in 1851 .clearly one or both of these are wrong . I'm more inclined to believe the 1851 census asI think he died soon afterwards aged 81 or 82.. again many thanks for you exhaustive research. Nicolas
