My ancestors were christened and married in Shifnal and Ryton, but search as I might I can never find these places in any of the parish register lists. What am I doing wrong?
You don't say which lists you have been looking in but many of the online sources use information from Printed Parish Registers which were produced around a hundred years ago. The problem is that only about half of the Shropshire parishes were printed and that did not include Shifnal or Ryton but it did include Ruyton XI Towns, a completely different place in another part of the county.
