A post on one of the discussion threads on this forum mentioned that the IGI (International Genealogical Index, available at FamilySearch) has relatively few burial records, and most of those relate to children who were buried not long after they were baptised.
However it is worth pointing out that while the IGI records have not been updated for some time, all of the 'real' records in that collection (i.e. transcribed and extracted parish records, not the often spurious user-submitted 'records' or guesses) can also be searched at the revamped FamilySearch site, which has added a great many records which are not on the IGI. These include a collection of many thousands of England and Wales burials, a proportion of which are from Shropshire parishes. Coverage is of course far from complete, with many parishes missing, and for those that are included there only records for certain periods. Many of the records are from the 1800s, but some go back to the 1700s and 1600s, and some extend well into the 1900s. Ages at death are given for some, and parents' names too for a fair number of records where the parents of the deceased were named in the register.
Below is a list of Shropshire parishes (with batch numbers) which I have found to be included in the FamilySearch burial records. The list (including the batch numbers) is not complete but gives an idea of what might be found. The point being - if you are looking for a burial record in Shropshire, you just might find it on FamilySearch:

As somone who has recently purchased a copy of the Shropshire Burials Index, I should add that that too comes highly recommended, particularly as it includes additional information from the parish records which you will not find in the FamilySearch index.
