Hi everyone I'm looking to go further back on my tree as after many years have finally established my 3x gt. Grandparents. Thomas & Elizabeth Cooper both born Wellington Salop or as stated/transcriber Dennngton on 1 census but think this must be Donnington. Below information I have on family.

Married Thomas Cooper Elizabeth Aglington  Parifh of Wellington both of Parifh. 19th June 1821. By (John Bartlett my translation).   Witnesses John Raden & Thos Rowleys ( my translation).

Children's  baptism Wellington parents Thomas & Elizabeth Cooper, father miner, abode, not easy to read looks like Raf field but from census records for Edward think Rackfield/ Rackfield Row.
Ruth Cooper 25th Feb 1824. George Cooper but transcribed as Cowper 29th April 1827. By my best gues something Birds. Edward Cooper 26th June 1833 by looks like John Parkin. Thos Cooper 29th Nov 1835 by my best guess E Owen. Younger children all born Bilston Wolverhampton Staffordshire.with mother's maiden name Haglington.

Have Thomas & Elizabeth on 1841, 1851 &1861 census all in Bilston, can't find the on 1871 so assume died, but can't find an exact date of death. Have looked on Wolverhampton council that has all record burials form that time & no matches. Wondering if they may have been buried back in Shropshire.  Any help with births or burials for Thomas & Elizabeth I would be really grateful or it just might take me many more years to get further back lol.     Sorry forgot to say from uk North West Wigan area Sorry again I did want to ask is there 2 Donnington's as in Donington as well & what area should I be searching in for this area as doesn't Seem to come up. Also not to sure about Ruth & Thos as not on any census just assumed May be children as same abode. Thanks

Wow Wow Wow thank you so much! I had just found Benji  & Catherine but wasn't sure. I also found a Joseph Haglington mother Elizabeth Haglington born just before they were married, on image fathers name crossed out but looks like Thomas oh dear lol. You even have my Gt. Grandfather John Cooper born bilston his son Isaac was my grandfather. Can't say how amazing this is after so many years looking for them. Think Elizabeth died first & Thomas went living with his son Edward as have Edward living Oatmeal sq Bilston on 1861 census & the Thomas age 66 1864 died Oatmeal sq & as Elizabeth always states that she is older on census think Elizabeth 1861 age 67 may be the one but that's just conjecture. Oh & by the way just realised put 3 x instead of 2 x gt grandparent lol

Hi J.P.J

Looks like your favorite for Thomas is correct. Found a Samuel Cooper 1797 living rag field row 1841.
Samuel also living in Bilston 1851.
Found his sister Mary Beddow (Cooper) who has Samuel's daughter  Harriiet age 15 living with her 1851.

Found Mary Cooper birth 19th April 1795 Wombridge parents Thomas & Ann Cooper.

Can't find Samuel's birth but couldn't find Thomas birth either guessing not on Family Search & not coming up on my heritage Site. Can I ask where you found Thomas do I need to buy some records or something to carry on Thank you

Hi Valetta.

Could you confirm if your Thomas & Ann married about 1791, and was Ann,s maiden name Southall.

And do you have any silblings for Thomas, (If I am correct he was born 1768 Wrockwardine and was twin brother to a John)

We may be distantly related, because if the above details fit with your tree. Thomas,s twin brother, John married a Sibbella Adderley. John would of been my GGGGrandad.

It would be great if we are from the same line of Cooper.s

, William & Elizabeth.Hi Dave haven't got that far yet lol but when I search on family search site yes it does keep coming up with Ann Southall as a match on other trees but I like to do my own research but this is great news. Apart  from family I know never met anyone doing My family Coopers. I think Samuel Cooper 1797 is an ideal candidate for brother Thomas circa 1799 but having trouble finding a birth for him. Have his  marriage to Mary Heford/Heaford 14 Feb 1820 Wellington same place as Thomas 1799. On the image also a Sarah Cooper marriage to Samuel Bates same day but haven't got round to her yet.

I'm just trying to find out at the moment which site has the records for the area or if I need to buy some.

My Coopers ended up in Lancashire area Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Just had a reply on roots chat looks like records on find my past. They gave me all the other children born to Thomas & Ann.

Catherine, James , William & Elizabeth. Also possible marriage to Ann Southall :) On marriage witness Joseph Severns? Which I assume is hard to read. My Thomas who married Elizabeth Aglington her mother was Catherine on her marriage Stephenton but other records Steventon. Wondering if this was Joseph's last name, one to watch out for in research.

Hi Valetta.

In my tree I have.

Thomas Cooper b 1768 married Ann Southall 1791(Twin brother to John Cooper, my cooper family line)

Thomas & Ann children.

Catherine b 1793

Mary b 1795

Samuel b 1798 married Mary Heaford 1820

Thomas b 1800

James b1807

William b 1809

Elizabeth b 1811

Sorry do not have a Sarah.

It seems that we may be on a similar family line. If you find from your research we are, let me know if I can help.

I use FMP most, but I also use all the free sites I can, Melocki is a good site for all the Shropshire villages.

Will be very interested to know if we are on the same lines, Incidently, My Cooper line hails from Bilston also, I am the last male Cooper on my parental line. although I now live in Bucks, where I settled have leaving the military.

Hi Dave Think I can safely say we are from the same line. Unfortunately my father Vincent Cooper 1911 Lancashire was the last Cooper my family but he did have lots of brothers. His father was Isaac Cooper 1870  born Cannock Staffordshire. His father was John Cooper 1838 Bilston. His father is the Thomas Cooper born 1799. Shropshire. Talk abt itchy feet they did like to move around, don't make it easy to research lol Oh like the Melocki looks like that could be useful thanks

Hi Valetta.

If you look at the registers on Melocki for Wrockwardine/Wombridge you will find Thomas Cooper and John Cooper twin sons born 1768 to Thomas and Elizabeth. (I think Elizabeth maiden name was Ball)

I followed the last information you gave me on your tree and I can trace it all on the census returns right back back to 1841.

We need to prove that the Thomas who married Elizabeth Aglington is the same twin brother, what puts a bit of a spanner in the works, is that there is a marriage for a Thomas at Wombridge to an Elizabeth Sutton in 1822. and a marriage at Wrockwardine to Mary Dorricott 1819.

I will do some more digging and let you know how I get on, if you find anything else please let me know. I am not sure if I am allowed to give you my e-mail address on here, which would be much better for communication, save keep blocking up this site with our messages. (maybe someone will let me know)

Keep looking and I will be in contact.

Hi Dave Thomas who married Elizabeth Aglington not twin think he's Samuel's brother their dad Thomas Twin.

I'm just in the middle of doing this but Samuel Cooper 1841 census living Rag field Shropshire. On same page Rag field! Elizabeth Aglington's parents Benjamin & Catherine Aglington  (maiden name Stephenton/Steventon) her brothers Richard & Thomas Aglington with their family's. Also next door to Samuel a John Stevington, other side Joseph Bedow. There is also a James & Sarah Ball family transcribed (Sarih) My head is spinning & that's just from the one page, going through all the pages for Rag field & more Coopers turning up hoping to find a connection.

IAs for email address don't think admin would like us to make public because it is connected to you sign in. However if admin read this I don't mind you sending Dave my email.
