I am researching the history of the Nonjuring Church and Bishop Wm Cartwright of Shrewsbury (1730-99).
Cartwright's assistant was Thomas Podmore.
Podmore was Master of Millington's Hospital in Shrewsbury for 14 years and on his death in April 1785 he was buried in the grounds of the Hospital - at the east end of the terraced garden.
A headstone was added on the terrace - and replaced at least once when it had decayed. There is also an inscribed stone within a corridor through the main building.
Does anyone know the grounds of Millington's, and whether either memorials to Podmore still exists ?
