Up with the Lark – Agricultural Labourers
Most of us will have agricultural labourers in our ancestry. This talk discusses their lives and the wealth of records which enable us to piece together their lives. The fact that they existed means that documentary evidence exists.
Prior to retirement Ian was a professional genealogist with over 30 years experience in English research. He is a former Chairman of, and is a Fellow of AGRA (the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) the body which represents professional genaealogists throughout England and Wales
He is a fellow of the Society of Genealogists, was a trustee and Chairman of the Education Committee and has published several books in the Society's 'My Ancestor' series.

A history of Shropshire in maps: from the Black Death to Brezhnev
We shall embark on a cartographic exploration of Shropshire, from the Middle Ages to the digital era, and from the local to the national, to discover the county’s place on the map. We will also discover how these maps examine Shropshire life through the ages, by finding out how and why these maps were made, and perhaps most pertinently, what are the stories these maps are endeavouring to tell us.
Nick Millea is Map Librarian at the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
