**** Zoom Meeting **** Monthly talk - Ian Waller (FSG FGRA): Brickwalls

Ian joins us in a virtual capacity to talk to us about how to overcome brick walls in our research. 

Every family historian can expect to hit a brick wall at some point in their research. In this talk Ian examines ways of demolishing the brick wall, breaking down barriers and overcoming challenges posed by documents that were not generated with the family historian in mind.  

As the situation with Covid-19 and the impact on being able to hold our monthly meetings at the normal location in Cross Houses continues to be uncertain the SFHS committee has decided that talks planned for the remainder of 2020 will take place using Zoom. 

Access to the meeting is only available to members. The meeting will be available to join from 19:15 (local time).

Graham will join us to talk about how a group of volunteers worked on clearing the site of the Red Church at Jackfield, the resting place of wealthy barge owners, tile makers and other industrialists.

Monthly talk - Dr George Nash: Signatures in stone

Dr George Nash will join us to talk about monumental prehistoric graffiti associated with death, burial and ritual. 

Even though the situation with Covid-19 and the impact on being able to hold our monthly meetings at the normal location in Cross Houses continues to be uncertain the SFHS committee hopes that we will be able to return to normal meetings from March 2021. Further details will be provided in due course if the situation with Covid-19 requires a switch back to Zoom meetings.

On the assumption that meetings in Cross Houses will be possible doors will open at 19:00 when there will be an opportunity to browse bookstalls, look at Shropshire parish records and seek advice from the team if you have any questions hampering your research. The talk will commence at 19:30.  Tea and coffee will be available after the talk.

Monthly talk - Graham Bradbury: Adoption and me

Graham will join us to talk about how he discovered his birth parents after 40 years of research.

Further details will be provided in due course if the situation with Covid-19 requires a switch back to Zoom meetings.

David will join us to talk about the work of the Royal Observer Corps in peace and war with an emphasis on Shropshire.
