Hello

I am asking if any member with a connection to Berrington church Halfway house has a photograph

off the grave to Arthur Dodd late Shropshire Imperial Yeomanry who died off influenza at Aldershott

early in 1901 whilst training for service in South Africa

His body was brought back for burial in Berrington churchyard

kind regards

Philip

Hello Philip

I presume you are referring to Arthur DODD who was baptised at Berrington (near Cross Houses) on 25 Mar 1873 and would have been about 27 years old when he died in 1901.

The monumental inscriptions at Berrington were transcribed in 1989 and whilst the names of Arthur's parents, William and Emma DODD and another couple of members of his family are recorded on a grave stone, there is no mention of Arthur in the transcript.

The Berrington Burial Register appears in the collection of Shropshire parish registers on the Find my Past web site where the following entry appears:-

Arthur DODD [of] Berrington [buried] 20 Feb 1901 [age] 27 years.

In the right hand margin of the register is a reference ' E.1 ' which may refer to a grave location.  There is nothing to indicate where or why he died but that information can be obtained from a Death Certificate.  Remember the death certificate will have been issued where he died not where he is buried.
