My great grandfather is David Hartley, born in Enville (or Highgate Common) in 1857, father James a farm labourer, there are several marriage/census records for David from 1880 on, but nothing before, nor any birth record. However I have found a Daniel Hartley, born in Tuckhill in 1857, father James a farm labourer, for whom there are birth and census records until 1871 but nothing after (no marriage or death record). The last record of Daniel in 1871 places him in Oakham, near Dudley, less than half a mile from the first record of David in 1880. I have found very little details of other Hartleys and so I would like to assume that Daniel and David are the same person, but maybe I am stretching the information too far! Daniel has siblings Caroline (b 1840 Tuckhill), Eli (b 1853 Alveley), Levi (b 1854 Alveley). If anyone has any useful information on the Tuckhill/Alveley or Enville Hartleys from this time that would help piece together this jigsaw I would be very grateful.
