My mother's maiden name was Owsley - her family being of the line in Leicestershire which came from Somersetshire and, we believe, ultimately from Shropshire before 1600. I am seeking a male Ouseley from Shropshire who can demonstrate a direct line from the family of Captain Ralph Ouseley (1739-1803). The Owsley Family Historical Society in the United States has initiated a DNA project which could reveal the connection between the two families back to the 16th century in Shropshire.
