John THOMSON, b. 1580 and d. 1625 is my 8th GGF, but cannot trace paternal line further back.  Shropshire Parish Registers, 1915 mentions “The Schere (meaning the edge of the parish where it joins Coreley) and Red Ford the former home of the Needhams and the Thomsons.”  Apparently John THOMSON was the freeholding yeoman of Schirehouse (Scherehouse, Sherehouse), which today has become Shear Farm, Nash.  Would be pleased to learn anything of the origins of THOMSONs in Nash, Salop and relation to Scherehouse.  Many thanks from Houston, Texas…
