Hello

I have a long standing problem with the disappearance of my 2x gt grandfather, George Woodvine who was bapt in Whixall (non conformist) in 1832. He was the son of Joseph Woodvine who died 1847, killed by a ferocious bull and Mary Ashley who died a few months later in a mini flu epidemic.

George married Sarah Powell in Swynnerton in 1860. My gt grandmother, Mary Woodvine was born in Crewe in 1865. After this the family broke up and George disappreared. He is definitely not the George Woodvine who died in Shifnal in 1883. George and Sarah's daughter Alice Jane was found in 1871 living with a family headed by Joseph Gregory, 61, farmer in Northwood, Wem. It records her as granddaughter. She is not his granddaughter (often relationships were recorded differently from the way we understand them). I think that there is a relationship but have not yet been able to establish a link.

There was a Thomas Gregory who married a Mary Woodvine in Prees in 1799 with witnesses Ann Woodvine and John Drury.

I would be really interested if anyone also has a connection to these families.

Regards and fingers crossed.
