Y-DNA Test?

Hi,

I am in the United States and am trying to chase my earliest ancestor back home. His name was William Owen, and he went to the colonies (Virginia) in 1650. My brother did the Y-DNA test, and it turns out that our male Owen ancestors have an unusual haplotype. Based on some speculative digging I've done, I believe it's possible that our William Owen came from one of the Shropshire Owen families.

So my question is: is there any current living man named Owen in Shropshire who has done the Y-DNA test? It appears to me that many people in the UK have a much better sense of their ancestry back many generations than we over here do, and that, thus, you may not need the DNA tests to pin down which family is yours. But, over here, we are all descended from somebody who ran away from home for whatever reason and did not leave us a clear record of where home was.

So, I'm hoping for someone in Shropshire named Owen who has done the Y-DNA and knows his haplotype. Could I be lucky enough to find you?

Peace and Thank You,

Margaret Owen Thorpe
