Closest GRO for birth/marriage/death of person in Abdon

Hello! I'm not a local to Shropshire (or the UK for that matter), so I'm seeking feedback from someone familiar with the area on which GRO would most likely have recorded a birth/marriage/death for someone from Abdon in the 1850s/1860s timeframe. (Why needlessly run around the Wrekin when guidance from a local may be available?) Would Abdon have been in the catchment area of Ludlow, or Bridgnorth, or some other GRO? Hello Jenny

There are at least three possible routes for you to obtain the information you need.

  1. Look at the GENUKI UK & Ireland Genealogy web site and follow the links to England ---> Shropshire then scroll down to Civil Registration.  (Note that this site has a common format for all counties so you can use it for many other searches.)  There is also a link to Shropshire Parishes under the map at the top.
  2. Go to the England & Wales Jurisdictions 1851 web site which is part of the LDS Family Search site. Click on Shropshire or just search for Abdon then click on the link that comes up below the search box. Click the Jurisdictions tab on the box that comes up over the map.
  3. If you can't find the person you are looking for post their details (name, date, place, etc) on here and perhaps someone will be able to locate the entry for you.
