Hello Baz

Can you tell us the year and page reference for the census if you have already found them and the date of birth (year will do if you don't have it exact) of Thomas & Margaret GREEN so we can try to find the original entry for them and then work from there to try to answer your question.

i have this from canada michael

it was in the Holy Trinity, Dawley Parish Register where Mary Jane was baptized June 28 1855 - daughter of Thomas & Margaret Green "of Dabblers".

Censuses aren't much help because on 1851 census they were in Bilston, Staffs & 1861 they were on Lawley Common.

The List of Mines in Great Britain and the Isle of Man (1900) lists "Dabbler" as a place in Lawley. A mine owned by the Coabrookdale Company shown at that location.

I am also aware of the "Dabler Fault' - a geological feature, that the supervisor of an open cast operation drew to my attention while on a field survey in the area many years ago. Heath Hill Industral Estate now occupies the site previously occupied by the open cast operation.
