Just like Jane Jones, I have another Gt.Gt. Grandmother that Ancestry gives me no information about. This time it is my Mother's Gt. Grandmother. My Gt.Gt. Grandfather Edward JONES, Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire, born (1851 census) 1796. Married Elizabeth DAVIS, Oswestry, born 1799 (1851cen.). Ancestry reckon Oswestry is in Oxfordshire? and that Edward and Elizabeth had no parents or siblings. I have a copy of the marriage document, they were married in London City on the 25-12-1816. Also a copy of their son's (My Gt. Grandfather) birth certificate. Elizabeth signed with a cross, she was illiterate!
I searched Melocki's Oswestry Vol.3. and found two Elizabeth DAVIES in 1798. 15-4-98 and 23-9-98. In 1799 there was two more, 22-2-99 and 19-3-99. I could find no one with with the surname DAVIS, presume that is a London spelling? Can anyone help me find who Elizabeth and her parents were.

Found them ! You will notice that there is a JOHN DAVIS on the marriage and farther down, there they were !

All of the above is correct I checked IGI. and got exactly the same results. I already had picked up Eliz.on Oswestry Vol. 3 bap. 22-2-99 d. of John and Hannah DAVIES, Treflach. There is another possible, bap. 19-3-99 Elizabeth d. of Edward and Elizabeth DAVIES. This entry is also on IGI.
My Gt.Gt. Grandfather, Edward JONES came from Llanfyllin only a few miles from Oswestry and must have met Elizabeth 1815-1816. She was 17years old and he was 20, when they married 25-12-1816. at Christ's Church , City of London. He was a hatter! by trade.

I found the actual marriage entry, and the witnesses were JOHN DAVIS and , I think, J WRIGHT? Sometimes there were other family members , but mostly the Father of the bride. That's why I thought that I have correct parents. Try going sideways and researching other siblings to see who their parents were.

The marriage entry I have the witnesses are John JONES and F Knight. All of the entries are in the hand of Saml. CROWTHER Rector. It is impossible for me to go sideways' I have no knowledge of Edward or Elizabeth's siblings. As the Banns were called for this marriage I will try to find the church or parish registers, they may be of help.
