Thank you, the Elsie mentioned seems to be the correct one i was adopted after being born in Huddersfield in July 1946 where I believe Elsie was living with one of her sisters apart from that I know nothing at all just becoming inquisitive as a get older.

Hello

There is a Death Registration for an Elsie L TURNOCK in the Wellington Registration District of Shropshire during the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1949 age 57 years which means she would have been born around 1892.

She must have left a Will because there is a Probate for Elsie Louisa TURNOCK of 174 Waterloo Street, Bolton [presumably Lancs] single woman who died 27 April 1949 at Windyways, 5 Lawley Bank, Wellington, Shropshire. Probate London 29 August 1949 to Florence Bertha DEAKIN married woman and Thomas SHERWIN riveter.  Effects £829.

Does this fit in with any other information you have?

Mike

So, are you interested in going back on Elsie's family or your own birth family? If so there is a Government site you can go onto to allow you to put your details on and if your birth family also do the same, then bingo? It is;

http://www.ukbirth-adoptionregister.com/resources.php

If it is Elsie's family, then get her birth certificate, that will tell you her parents, then research the next generation back when hopefully they will be on the census. You have to prove each generation before going back again. Any help we can give on this site, we will. There are some excellent people who are really good at what they do.
