I have recently been given a photograph dated 18th May 1911 with the words Picnic on Haughmond Hill
There is a group of men and ladies (the ladies wearing their best hats) I think it was taken at Haughmond Lodge (tea rooms) home of the Barker family, two people are holding tea pots and one of the men is holding a tin with the words Faulder & Co on it.
Does anyone know where the firm Faulder & Co was?

Hi Sandra,

Try Google. Input "faulder & co, stockport".

They appear to have taken over a cotton mill around 1890 for their cocoa and confectionary factory. Henry Faulder wrote a book in 1893 callled "Improved means for closing jars or other vessels containing preserved fruit, jellies and other similar confections".

There is a site with details of the clerks strike there in 1914 and a site called More than a Name which gives details of men from the Stockport area who fought in WW1, one of whom was the managing director called Lister.

On interavtivestockportgov..uk there is a document by Manchester University surveying the area where the factory was. You have to scroll down about 20 pages to get to the relevant piece but from the brief read I had the factory is probably under a Sainsburys by now, as I believe the survey was prompted by them. It was done in 2007.

There also seems to be a site called Secret Stockport which may have something and I would imagine Stockport Archives may have documents etc. Hope this helps. Hazel

Hazel thank at you for your help, as the photograph was of a group of people from Faulders. having a picnic on Haughmond Hill on Easter Monday 1911 (see Shropshire Star letters page Tuesday 14th ,January) I wondered if they had a branch near to Shrewsbury, it was a tradition that people visited Haughmond Hill at Easter.
