Hi, I'm trying to trace any living relatives of 3 local soldiers who died late October/November 1918. On the 11th November 2022 there will be a ceremony in their honour at Lamain communal cemetery in Belguim where they lay alongside 4 other soldiers who died at the same time. One of these soldiers is my great uncle Richard John Thomas of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. The soldiers are Private Gomer Southerton born 1895 died 5/11/1918 Towers Cottages Llandrinio Llanymynech. KSLI. Private C.J.Summers died 4/11/1918 Alderney Edge KSLI ex Shropshire and Cheshire Yeomanry. Company Quarter Master Sergent William John Parry born 1891 died 20/10/1918 Criggion Alderbury Shropshire. Royal Welch Fusiliers. If I can find any relatives I would like to invite them to the ceremony in Lamain.
Hello
The helpful reply above includes a link to an image of this man's Medal Index Card on the National Archives web site. Whilst the image can be downloaded free at present it should be noted that it is only in black and white and only shows the front of the card regardless of whether anything is written on the rear.
For those with access to Ancestry UK a much better option is to search for the Medal Index Card on that site where the image will be in colour and show both the front and the back.
Mike
