Hello Heatherbells,

Could you explain a little more as to what it is you are trying to find? How far back have you got with evidence? Do you for example know GGF Richard's parents (having obtained his birth cert, which appears on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ In September quarter 1851 in Church Stretton Reg District ref: 18/42) or likewise his marriage cert (Qtr Jun 1878 in Atcham District ref: 6a/1175)?  He appears to have married Clara Sarah KIRKHAM.  Those are starting points.

Regards,

David

Looking (for free via Family Search) at the 1881 Census there were two Richard Gallers then at Plealey, one aged 29 (and remember that by sheer laws of average most people in Censuses would be a year older later in the Census year) the son of the householder Thomas, and married, the other aged 30 and unmarried, being Thomas's stated brother. Both Richards were born at Cardington (which was in Church Stretton Registration Disrict), not Church Stretton itself. So, which is "yours"?

I would not be surprsed to find that Gallers have been already much studied.

There was - and still may be - a Gallers Farm at Plealey

Hi, thanks for replying. I have done quite a bit of research. As far as I know there were 2 Richard Galliers in the home of Thomas Galliers and his wife, nee Adah Bluck. Richard Galliers married Clara Sarah Kirkham from Oswestry and in the 1881 census they were living in Plealey with Thomas, Adah and Thomas's brother, another Richard Galliers. Richard and Clara had 8 children, I think, one of whom was my grandmother, Gladys Mildred Galliers. One of her sisters,Elsie Winifred Galliers, married George Powell in 1919, registered in Atcham. Another sister, the oldest, Clara M Galliers, married Richard Lee in 1912 also registered in Atcham. My Grandmother, as in the 1911 census, was in New Brighton, Wirral and married a John Johnson, who was already dead when my brother and I were born.

Her brother Richard S Galliers was killed in the Battle of Aisne in WW1, France in 1918. My main aim is to find relatives as we have none! Hope this is not too confusing with all the Richards! We are hoping to come to the Family History Fair in May. My brother and I live in Wirral. regards, Heather
