I am looking for the baptism of Joseph Merchant JONES born about 1830 possibly Wellington or Dawley Magna I believe his father could be William and mother Jane. They moved before 1851 to Church Street Pensnett Staffordshire where Joseph married Frances OLIVER. Joseph was a miner as were his family. He uses the name MERCHANT on his wedding certifictae and his sons wedding certificate. I met your team at the Somerset and Dorset family History day on Saturday they were all very helpful. On a cd collection of records there is;
Baptism on 30 Sept 1832 of Joseph MERCHANT, parents William & Jane at Dawley Magna.
Baptism on 18 Jan 1846 of Thomas MERCHANT, parents William & Jane of Dawley Green Lane at Malinslee.
Marriage on 21 Aug 1830 of William MERCHANT and Jane HAYWARD at Dawley Magna.

That looks like it could be them but where did the Jones name come from?
Joseph marries Frances Oliver 1852 and he is Joseph Merchant Jones father William Jones

Looking on Family Search I can only get him to come up with his full name Joseph Merchant JONES in the 1911 census where it states his place of birth was Dawley Green, Shropshire (ignore the Staffordshire bit in the Family Search result) which should mean his baptism is most likely at Dawley church unless they used one of the local non-conformist chapels.
Presumably you obtained the parents names from the 1851 census. Have you found the family on the 1841 census?
Dawley Green is actually quite hard to find on a map. On the old 6 inch to 1 mile map of 1889 it is shown at the south eastern end of the main street (High Street) through Dawley but actually on the extreme left hand edge of this page a little above the word 'MAGNA'. Due to all the changes in the area over the last 50 years or so it is difficult to place the area on a modern map but it would have been somewhere in the vicinity of where Dawley Library is shown on Google Maps.
