I have quite a number of Shrops PR's but not Newport's, so would someone be kind enough please to look up the birth of Andrew Ikyn to Lydia Ikyn on 5 June 1738 & bur 8 June 1738 for me? I found this in Family Search & wondered if it gave a father's name or said Illegitimate in the actual records.

Thanks very much for looking that up for me. I imagine it meant the mother was deaf & dumb because the baby died at about 3 days old so they wouldn't know by then if he was deaf & dumb.
I assumed he was a bastard child as it gave no father's name.

Had a look at the original today and this is all it says,
5,June,1738 Andrew, a bastard child of Lydia Ikyn a deaf and dumb ( ?? ) was baptised
8,June,1738 Andrew, a bastard child of Lydia Ikyn was buried,
I could not make out if the deaf and dumb bit refered to the child or Lydia, perhaps another member a more expert at reading the bit i failed on might shed a bit more light on it, it is only one or two words,
