My ancestor, altho living in spring gardens, Shrewsbury and attending St Mary's church was buried on 17th February 1841 in St Michael's graveyard. Could anyone tell me if this graveyard still exists, I know he is in an unmarked grave but I would still like to know whereabouts 1841 burials are.
Would be grateful for any information.
Thanks
thanks mike, just one more question, are the graves still there and if yes can the public go see them and if not where would they be now as I would like to stand where my ancestor was laid to rest.

Hello Steph
As far as I know any surviving grave stones, which existed when the change of use took place, were moved to the edge of the church yard so it is now just a large open space as shown on Google Street View but as your ancestor's grave was unmarked I presume it is impossible to locate the spot unless the Burial Register has a reference to a plan. You would need to check at Shropshire Archives for this.
You might find this web site helpful.
I have sent you an email direct with some additional information.
Mike
thanks mike, have replied to your e mail and have passed the info on to other members of the family doing research.

Hello
St Michael's Church, Shrewsbury is no longer used as church but is now in private ownership as a Masonic Hall. There are some photos on this site and here is a link to one of them.
The link here should show you a modern view from Google Street View. Here is an alternative link to the same view.
