William lived in Rough Lane Broseley, and on the 1881 census is shown still to be living there with his sisters, after the death of their parents.
We know that by the 1891 census both of his sisters had moved to Lancashire and were working in the cotton mills, but of William we can find no mention, having searched all census, marriage and death and even emigration records.
We would welcome any ideas on where to look next!

Have you ruled out the December quarter 1881 marriage?- Madeley vol.6a page 1274. There is also one in Wellington May 1885 that might be worth checking out - vol.6a page 1055. There are also later Madeley marriages of a William Edward Maiden and a William George Maiden. The only deaths that seem to be the right age are the two in 1902 in Oldham / Stockport or the one in 1903 in Oldham. A William Maiden was born in Duke Street, Broseley in 1854 - could he be yours?

Hello

I think Bristolloggerheads is probably onto something here but it will need a bit more exploration.

The December quarter 1881 marriage at Madeley seems to be to an Elizabeth FOX and on the 1891 census in Yorkshire RG.12/3855 folio 28 page 24 there is a Wm MAIDEN born Dawley and wife Elizabeth.

Better still, the 1885 marriage at Wellington is to a Jane HARPER or Selina WOOD and on the 1891 census for Wellington RG.12/2131 folio 99 page 8 there is a William & Selina MAIDEN both born Broseley. Note that his age suggests a birth in 1855/6 and this may be why you weren't finding this - it always pays to be flexible with ages (at least five years each way) to catch all likely entries.  It is also worth noting that the two daughters have the surname WOOD so I would guess that Selina may well have been married previously to Mr WOOD.

Hopefully you will be able to progress this research now but you will probably need to buy the Marriage Certificate for the 1885 marriage.
