Meole Brace marriages on fiche:

16.8.1779 John Partiridge p of St Chads and Mary Jones of this parish [ no marital status given for either ]. Both by mark. Witnesses William ellis and Thos Pugh. Both sign. Latter clearly a regular, eg clerk, former also a witness as Wm Ellis to next preceding entry 10.7.1779, but, as this is a bit cramped and at an angle I wonder if the clerk found in August that he was missing a signature in July and asked WE to oblige.

(Please don't ask for further such look-ups, at least at Archives, Steph. The Partridges have had a good run on the this or the old board already. Others use Archives' paid service or agents).

thanks martyn, and sorry the partridges have had a lot of exposure on ths board. due to heavy fam commitments at moment not been able to get up to archives. was hoping that the witnesses of john and mary might have been john s dad, but obviously not the case.
